We develop artificial cell models based on a combination of synthetic liposomes and water-in-oil droplets/cell plasma membrane vesicles. Our goal is to establish membrane protein-mediated cascade reactions within these constructs, in order to mimic the communication between cells and organelles or reconstitute cellular signalling in a streamlined environment. Our projects require engineering and scientific skills and a keen interest in synthetic biology. The students will gain insight on research and development in the interdisciplinary field of bioengineering. Further Information can be found Download here.
